Chris Cowell
Owner of Maidenhead Denture Studio. Clinical dental technician, GDC 142936.
I am Chris Cowell, GDC number 142936, owner of Maidenhead Denture Studio. I have made dentures for over forty years. I qualified as a dental technician at Eastman Dental Hospital, London, in 1981, and later as a clinical dental technician with the Royal College of Surgeons.
A clinical dental technician is qualified to provide dentures directly to the public. I am registered with the General Dental Council, which regulates that work.
What a clinical dental technician does
Clinical dental technicians are part of the dental team. The training is the technical work of a dental technician, plus further clinical training. That covers designing and making removable dentures, fitting and adjusting them, and recognising when something in the mouth needs a dentist instead.
I do not place implants, and I do not take teeth out. A dentist does that. I make the denture, including a denture that fits onto implants a dentist has already placed, and an immediate denture for the day teeth are removed.
All of the laboratory work is done at 156 Windsor Road, Maidenhead, SL6 2DW. The legal name of the business is Chris Cowel Castings, trading as Maidenhead Denture Studio.
