Immediate dentures

A denture fitted when teeth are removed, so you are not without teeth while the gums heal.

An immediate denture is fitted at the time teeth are taken out. It means you do not have to go without teeth while the gums heal. The extractions themselves are done by a dentist. Chris makes the denture.

Gums and bone can shrink, especially in the first six months, so an immediate denture may later need relining, adjusting or replacing. Sometimes it is better to wait until the gums have healed before having a denture made. If you are not sure, call for advice before you decide. That conversation is free.

What to expect

  • Worn straight after extractions
  • The denture is made at the Maidenhead studio
  • May need a reline as the gums heal
  • Free advice if you are deciding whether to wait
FAQs

Immediate dentures: questions

More answers are on the questions page.

Do you take the teeth out?

No. A dentist does the extractions. Chris makes the immediate denture that is fitted at that appointment, and looks after it afterwards.

Will an immediate denture still fit in six months?

It may not. Gums shrink as they heal, and the denture may need relining, adjusting or replacing. That is normal, and you can come back for it.
